Blogs About Berksire Hathaway

My company, Berkshire Hathaway, is a holding company for smaller companies of numerous industries. It is often in the news about its management, stock situation, board meetings, subsidiary companies and recent merger and acquisitions. I found two blogs that are about my company. The first blog involved a discussion about the stock split that occurred with Berkshire Hathaway's class A stock. Apparently, the BRK stock split when investors did not expect it. The blogger expresses criticism of the split and questions the timing. The second blog that involved my company discussed the fact that Berkshire CEO, Warren Buffet, is distantly related to music legend Jimmy Buffet. The two are connected from over 600 years of familiar ties. Jimmy and Warren are apparently good friends and they often go to each other for advice. The blog was very interesting but didn't contain much useful information.

Governor Scuffles Plan

In an article written on October 17, 2007, the governor of Alaska has been debating the idea of tapping into a wealth of natural gas in the state. The governor, Sarah Palin, has issued statements that reflect a hesitation to allow Big Oil Companies to begin the pipelines that would extract the oil. One of the companies, MidAmerica, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway, is in the bidding for the contract to create the pipeline system. However, due to the political holdup, the date to begin is not yet known.

3 Web site assignments

3 Web sites that I found that relate to my company project are the following. 1.) Berkshire Hathaway web site. This is the place where the company communicates with its shareholders and release information to the public and media. Also, the company provides letter from Warren Buffet in addition to annual reports that are necessary to SEC regulations.. 2.) Google Finance, where the company's Class B shares are listed. Google's finance feature allows in depth information on all the company's executives and history. And 3.) CNN Money report from Fortune 500 about the company's information and where they rank in respect to others on the list. The list is compiled each year and fairly states Berkshire's ranking in respect to other conglomerates.

New posts

This is the link to my newest post. The forum discuses what is a fair price to pay for one share of class B stock in BRK.B. The author of the question does not know much of the company, however, is still interested in buying the stock. I advised to do more research prior to investing in the company.

Discussion Forum

This is the link to my post
The forums that I found involved merging of plans and investing. One forum involved a potential acquisition and the other forum involved a merger of two health care plans. This health care discussion was relevant to my story because it involved possible acquisition of health care plans. My company project involves a potential acquisition of another company. The first link, ragingbull, was about investing information which parallels the business of Berkshire Hathaway and investment opportunities that constantly arise with them. Both discussion boards are very group specific so I attempted not to comment on issues that are specific.
